Rhenus Offshore Logistics supplies Borssele Alpha with cargo
In the coming years, several wind farms are build in the Dutch North Sea. To enable offshore grid connections, powerful offshore transformer stations are being built at 20km offshore off the Dutch coast. The construction of the platforms for offshore windfarm Borssele 1 & 2 ( Borssele Alpha & Borssele Beta), is awarded by TenneT to HSM Offshore BV.
For execution of the offshore commissioning campaign, HSM Offshore BV has awarded Rhenus Offshore Logistics BV with the task to provide all cargo runs for the Borssele Alpha platform. Supplies such as water, fuel, food, building materials and tools are provided every 3 weeks. Rhenus Offshore Logistics also assists in customs clearance, handling at the port and waste disposal.
Hans van Hoof, Sales Manager Offshore Wind at Rhenus Offshore Logistics continues: “We have already been involved in supplying a large number of wind farms for the German market across the Baltic Sea and North Sea. As of this year, we act as a supply base from the Rhenus Deep Sea Terminal in Rotterdam. This enables us to offer our services to both the Dutch and Belgian offshore wind market.”
During this project, HSM Offshore BV is taking care of all engineering, construction, transport, connection and installation of the offshore transformer station. The handover of the Borssele Alpha platform to TenneT took place end of September 2019. Rhenus Offshore Logistics BV is looking forward to carrying out supply runs for any other project in the Dutch or Belgian North Sea.
On this picture you see the Eagle Frontier, which is a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV), being loaded with several cargo and fuel bunkers at the Rhenus Deep Sea Terminal. The location of our terminal at the Maasvlakte-Rotterdam is at the entrance of the port of Rotterdam, which is ideal for quick turnarounds.
